Surrender (Poem)

I choose to let go
My bitterness
My resentment
I choose to forgive
Those who hurt me
Betrayed me

I choose to let go
Of my lofty goals
My great expectations
My harsh self-judgment
Other people's opinion
My rush, my hustle
My should haves

I choose to simply flow
With acceptance of "what is"
Doing what I want to do
Without being held prisoner
By the outcomes I desire
I surrender to the universe
And let it guide me

I choose to simply be
Be joyful, be calm
Be peaceful, be present
Be content, and be loved
As each new day unfolds
And that might be enough
For a life well lived...
